This lovely image from a vintage French postcard is from 1915 ~ one hundred years ago! Sending greetings for New Years ~ to wish a Happy New Year or a Joyous Annee or Bonne Annee ~ was a very popular custom in the Edwardian era. We have hundreds in our collection, most French but also Italian, Dutch, German, and English.
Most of our French cards are photos, while most of our American New Year greetings are illustrations, featuring artists such as Clapsaddle and Brundage. Whichever style you prefer, these antique images are great for your 21st century card making and scrapbooking, don't you think?
